As the virus continues to spread and global economies fluctuate, portals continue to come up with innovative ways to help consumers continue to prosper during these trying times.

Sahiqa Bennett, Co-founder and CEO of the AI-powered Searchie recruitment platform based out of the UAE, has witnessed an unprecedented 80% increase in revenue just from the first two weeks of March. She, like others even in the property industry, suggests that the uncertainty the virus has brought has created room for opportunity. 

Rather than jobs disappearing in total, she says that demand has instead rapidly shifted, according to the numbers. Tech professionals are seeing a boost in available roles as companies are forced to rapidly digitize their workforce and processes, and that applies to entire industries. And unsurprisingly, the healthcare sector is hurting for talent more than ever before.

Searchie is trying to stay ahead of the curve, even under these circumstances.  

With patient numbers skyrocketing and medical workers already seeing shortages in many regions across the globe, Searchie offers a platform for those with healthcare-adjacent skills, such as in finances or janitorial work, to find opportunity and help.

Despite the app's original focus on tech workers, the founders are already reporting new members appearing from education backgrounds and small businesses, suggesting how broadly its use value might go as the pandemic continues on.

Uncubed's online platform provides a pre-screened talent network and works with clients to help them find the correct skills and experience for their needs. 

This online expansion comes as colleges, universities, and other educational programs close and Uncubed becomes a stronger source for students to use. With larger access to more companies, students will have a higher potential of finding new employment opportunities as online platforms become more popular in a quarantined world.

The company has also added additional support staff as demand on the platform increases. It will also add more resources for students and clients to help transition into the online recruitment market.

Students will also be given access to newsletters, articles, and online webinars to help them build new skills. 

Online recruitment platforms have a positive track record for some companies, especially those hiring among a certain skill set. Even with the world sheltering in place more and more due to the pandemic, online-focused platforms like Uncubed have an opportunity to take advantage.

The newly released research revealed dramatic shifts in HR's service and technological support needs, which appear to be driven by recent legislative changes in illegal drug laws, a hot economy and global proliferation of the internet with all of its vulnerabilities.

From a service perspective the survey showed a striking swap in rankings between I9 Verifications (a 2nd rank priority in 2017) with Drug Testing. The tight labor market most likely contributed to an expanded definition of speed and responsiveness which now includes real-time screening updates when logging into a provider's system as the most critical functional capability, in conjunction with increased pressure for quicker turn-around times in services (92% of respondents expect results in less than 4 days), displacing compliance standards which dropped to a surprising 5th place ranking. Finally, over 70% of respondents indicated Data Protection & Security with PII was nearly as important as the real-time updates, a stark reminder of how the protection of customer/applicant level data is not only an HR priority, but it's a companywide priority.  

When asked about these results Global HR Research CEO Brandon Phillips explained:

"These findings support our technology development and operating decisions from over a year ago which anticipated a heated competitive environment - driving downward pressure on background screening providers to architect a platform that could be more responsive, with an increased level of customer support to ensure priority alignment with our customers."

Surprisingly, these responses are in stark contrast to respondents expressed mediocre satisfaction with the quality of services they're currently receiving from their background screening providers. Only one-quarter (25%) rated their overall screener satisfaction as excellent which was nearly a drop of 10% over 2017. The upside is that the pre-employment screening industry has an opportunity to improve perceptions by consistently delivering accurate and complete results on a tight turn-around while providing real-time updates along the way.
