Douglas Elliman Relents to StreetEasy Ending Manual Listing Entry Policy

Companies clash, especially when their markets overlap, or when a contract between two is considered unjust or has failed to be upheld. Mid-June, a conflict between two such companies came to, what was considered at the time, a mutual agreement. Now, news between Zillow’s StreetEasy and brokerage Douglas Elliman has flared up again.

StreetEasy is pushing to end manual listing entries and Elliman heads would not budge on their opinion that manual listing entry is the better, more fool-proof way to list properties.

Elliman has criticized StreetEasy for a number of things in the past but the recent memo pertaining to this specific conflict spins a more positive view on the situation.

“We are excited to inform you that beginning July 15th, you will directly enter all new sales and rental exclusives on StreetEasy using Agent Tools.

“By allowing you access to Agent Tools, we are providing the most effective means for you to upload your listings quickly and accurately.”

Agent Tools is an app offered through StreetEasy that makes posting and editing listings faster and easier. Through Agent Tools, users can:

  • Seamless listing entry: The intuitive design helps agents and brokers post listings faster and more accurately.
  • More detailed amenity options: New amenity options include wheelchair accessibility, type of outdoor space and type of view among others.
  • A better open house tool: Edit or reschedule existing open houses.
  • More ways to connect: Connect with StreetEasy's Customer Support team in real time using live chat.

This is a complete turnaround compared to the last time we reported, where Elliman was still hesitant to give in to StreetEasy’s no-manual entry policy.

On the matter, a Zillow spokesperson said:

“We are pleased to offer Douglas Elliman agents uninterrupted access to Agent Tools and the StreetEasy platform.”

So, even with experts claiming that manual data entry slashes errors, Elliman brokers will continue working through StreetEasy, using their automated listing technology, which they will be trained in, moving forward.
