EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Ignasius Ryan Hasim, Head of Real Estate, OLX Group

Ignasius Ryan Hasim, Head of Real Estate at OLX Group Indonesia attended the Property Portal Watch Madrid 2018 Conference in November, where he granted us an interview.

Founded in 2006 by South African media and technology group Naspers, the OLX Group is a global online marketplace with a presence in 45 countries.

“The Group assists people in buying and selling items easily via our platform; everything from buying second-hand couches, a new car, or making the biggest purchase in their life, buying a property. We make it all possible,” said Hasim.

This being his first Property Portal Watch Conference, we asked Hasim what his take was on the event. Hasim expressed his admiration for the Conference, especially for Simon Baker’s MasterClass. “I loved the MasterClass so much!” he stated, “The Class is a one-on-one session with one of the top property industry experts in the world, who makes it possible to better understand the property realm,” said Hasim.

“The Conference is also a great way to tap into the knowledge of others. Hearing from other players in the market is extremely useful.

“People are quite keen to find out what the next big thing will be in the industry. Indonesia is still very much an emerging market, and it can be difficult to make certain changes, such as property agencies still shifting from old-school offline print advertising to the online industry.

“OLX Indonesia has found that there are many things which it needs to take on in its niche market, in terms of products.

“We have many products that can serve as an added value to agents; they can help sell properties more efficiently, as well as even run their business more resourcefully.

“As a company, we keep an eye on many things, but I believe that the big picture is, how do we stay relevant in the market, and to always challenge ourselves. Attending a Property Portal Watch Conference proves useful with this,” concluded Hasim.
